The topics of SIL (Safety Integrity Level) and PL (Performance Level) are becoming increasingly important in the process industry and in mechanical and plant engineering. However, users are often faced with complex challenges in practice. Jumo has therefore developed the new JSP (Jumo Safety Performance) brand. At its heart is a compact single-channel safety controller with selectable redundant input signals for the measured variable temperature, with which SIL 3 or PL e can be realized. With a combination of the safety temperature limiter / safety temperature monitor SafetyM and certified sensors, the entire SIL chain consisting of sensor, controller and actuator is already calculated and is supplied with a corresponding manufacturer's declaration.

The SafetyM STB/STW Ex is also suitable for ATEX/ IECEx/ EAC applications and complies with the Pressure Equipment and Machinery Directives. This solution can be implemented with almost all temperature sensor variants from Jumo. As no complex controller is used, no programming knowledge is required for commissioning, the user does not have to carry out any complicated calculations and saves on documentation and engineering costs.

Solutions for other measured variables

Jumo also offers SIL or PL solutions for other measured variables such as pressure, level or flow. Customers receive all safety-related characteristic values with which they can carry out the necessary calculations. At the same time, the company has various high-quality physical transmitters in its range that can be used here. These include the Dtrans p20 or the magnetic-inductive flowmeters from the Flowtrans MAG series.

Other products that are now also available in a signal yellow JSP version are the Dtrans T06 multifunctional four-wire transmitter, the Dtrans T07 two-channel temperature transmitter, an Ex-i supply and input isolating amplifier and the Extherm-AT explosion-proof surface-mounted thermostat.

In addition to products and solution developments, Jumo attaches great importance to a high level of consulting expertise. The employees have been trained as JSP product specialists with their own training concept. They have knowledge in the application of SafetyM, in temperature, pressure and flow measurement technology, in explosion protection and, of course, in functional safety (SIL and PL).
