Euchner: New modules for the MGB2 family

Euchner is launching two new modules for its Multifunctional Gate Box MGB2 Modular: The new, small version of the MCM expansion module offers space for up to six functions that can be customized. The new MSM submodule also provides additional safety inputs for connecting external switches.

MCM - compact and scalable
Euchner now offers another solution for users who require more than the six existing functional elements for the MGB2 Modular safety gate system. The compact MCM extension module has a total of two slots and can therefore be equipped with up to six operating or application elements, for example an emergency stop and enabling switch or a key switch. Users now have the choice between this small extension module and the existing larger version, which has four slots and space for up to twelve additional operating and application elements.

According to the manufacturer, the advantages include: The submodules with the functional elements are simply hot-plugged into the expansion modules and are ready for use after minimal configuration effort. The submodules can also be easily replaced if required. There are no limits to the functional possibilities and areas of application. The MCM can be installed separately from the MGB locking module and the bus module - for example in the internal production area, while the bus module is mounted outside. It is also possible to use the MCM in conjunction with the bus module without the locking module and door handle.

MSM submodule - decentralized peripherals as plug-and-play
The MCM expansion modules can be used with the new MSM submodule as decentralized peripherals for connecting electromechanical safety switches with M12 plugs. The fail-safe inputs can detect the signal states of the safety switches such as a pull-wire switch, an emergency stop switch or a position switch and transmit the safety signals to the control system via Profinet with Profisafe protocol.

The MSM submodule has three two-channel digital inputs. When using the small expansion module MCM, up to six slots can therefore be used as safe inputs. The MSM is equally suitable for M12 push-pull and M12 threaded plugs. The system is also hot-pluggable during operation and is immediately ready for use after minimal configuration effort. as
