AIT system as the basis for OT cyber security
Network management is not a chore, but a valuable tool over the entire life cycle of a machine or system. AIT has developed the Herakles network management system as a monitoring and early warning system.
Network management supports and simplifies project documentation from engineering, commissioning and system handover through to operation. It fulfills important tasks such as diagnostics, predictive maintenance and asset management, helps to keep system documentation up to date and contributes to cyber security.
The Herakles network management system developed by AIT Solutions is a versatile monitoring and early warning system that implements the requirements of all important use cases in the various life phases of a machine or system. It is specially designed for networks that use Profinet.
Herakles not only manages the systems, but also the life cycles of all individual devices. The services include, among others:
- Plant-wide consolidation of all assets from the Profinet network
- Detection of topological changes in the network
- Consideration of Windows-based systems, including inserted USB sticks
- Tracking of the device life cycle
- Detection and reporting of configuration changes by participants.
The detailed recording of all assets is also a basic measure for cyber security in operational technology (OT). Effective defensive measures can only be defined if all system and device details are known. as
