Now new at ACE: configure and order oil brakes and hydraulic brake cylinders online

ACE Stoßdämpfer GmbH is expanding its range of online configurators. At www.ace-ace.de/de/berechnungen/bremszylinder-konfigurat or.html, it is now possible to design and order oil brakes and hydraulic brake cylinders for a wide range of applications at any time on the ACE website.

At www.ace-ace.de/de/berechnungen/bremszylinder-konfigurator.html, users can now configure ACE oil brakes and hydraulic brake cylinders online around the clock and order them in the ACE online store. © ACE Shock absorber GmbH

Users can now find the ideal oil brakes and hydraulic brake cylinders for a wide range of applications on the ACE Stoßdämpfer GmbH website. As with the other configurators that ACE already offers online as a provider of all types of damping solutions at www.ace-ace.de/de/berechnungen.html, the new tool is also easy and intuitive to use. This means that the selection process can be completed with just a few clicks and in a short space of time. And thanks to the connected online store, purchasing the ideal machine element is just another click away once the design is complete.

Whether you are looking for hydraulic brake cylinders from the HBS family with no free stroke or standard solutions of the various HB types from ACE with 20% free stroke, the new configurator allows you to select parameters such as braking force range and maximum pressure force with a single click. The damping direction (P, M and N) can also be selected via the software panel, as can add-on parts and mounting accessories. For increased transparency and complete cost control, users are shown the expected prices for the desired number of units at each selection step. This means there are no surprises when switching to the online store.

Wide range of solutions for practical use
When it comes to speed regulation with the aid of oil brakes and hydraulic brake cylinders from ACE, practical experience shows that users can tolerate up to approx. 20% idle stroke for many solutions. Types HB12 to HB70 from the ACE hydraulic brake cylinder portfolio are suitable for these applications. The idle stroke can even be an advantage in certain cases. Namely, when excessive oscillation or undesirable swaying of a running gear needs to be avoided. This applies, for example, to amusement park rides or cable car gondolas. In one specific case, for example, noticeable movements occur for passengers when entering ski stations. Maintenance-free hydraulic brake cylinders from ACE dampen the oscillation perfectly. The gondolas, which are articulated to the suspension rod via a four-point frame and a connecting link, benefit from the ability of the adjustable brakes to reduce compressive forces of up to 10,000 N on both sides.

In other cases, however, oil brakes on chassis take on a compensating function. Thanks to a combination of oil brakes and gas filling, it is possible to compensate for the inclination of an ice handbike by 10 to 15 degrees. In this way, a Dutchman has succeeded in increasing his cornering speed by 50% in endurance competitions. Other users use ACE brake cylinders to stabilize the chassis of delivery bicycles with varying loads or as steering dampers for motorcycles.

In total, the HB product family from ACE covers compressive and tensile forces between 20 N and 50,000 N. For high-end solutions, ACE also offers the family of hydraulic brake cylinders with the types HBS-28 to HBS-70. In contrast to the HB representatives, these models are characterized by the fact that they work without an idle stroke. Otherwise, their mode of operation is similar. They offer constant feed speeds and can be finely adjusted via tooth regulation. An adjustment segment on the piston makes adjustment in the end positions child's play. As a result, they provide improved speed regulation and feed control when sawing metals, for example, effectively preventing the damaging stick-slip effect.

As with all ACE solutions, installation is very simple thanks to the many DIN-standardized mounting parts, meaning that these components can be used universally. In addition to the automotive sector, where they are used on accelerator and brake pedals to ensure controllable response and feedback to forces in drive-by-wire applications, they are also used in industrial applications, classic mechanical engineering, the electronics and furniture industries and in medical technology.
