Calcium instead of lithium
Lithium-based products account for the largest share of multi-purpose greases worldwide. Their high performance and properties in particular are the factors that make lithium greases the preferred choice of many designers and users. However, as modern multi-purpose greases should not only have good performance, but must also be economical, lithium-based products are currently coming under increased scrutiny.
The reason for this is the significant rise in lithium prices in recent months - a trend that experts expect to continue and will also be reflected in an increase in the price of lithium-based multi-purpose greases. Designers and users must therefore weigh up the pros and cons: Does the use of lithium-based greases still appear to make sense in the long term in terms of cost development?
A multi-purpose grease without lithium
The lubricant specialist Rhenus Lub is presenting an innovative multi-purpose grease that completely dispenses with lithium to enable safer and more independent planning. The new EP multi-purpose grease rhenus CMN 2 is calcium-based, but has the same level of performance and quality as lithium-based greases. As a result, users and designers remain unaffected by the price trends of lithium without having to sacrifice the well-known performance of comparable lithium products.
Calcium: At least equivalent properties, more independence
According to the company, the calcium EP multi-purpose grease rhenus CMN 2 is in no way inferior to lithium-based products. It has good sealing properties and can be used at a temperature comparable to that of lithium greases. Thanks to its special water resistance and excellent adhesion, rhenus CMN 2 even has advantages over lithium-based greases. This makes the calcium grease suitable for a wide range of applications and many industries, for example in construction and agricultural machinery, industrial trucks, trucks, slewing ring bearings in cranes, mining, shipping, for bearing lubrication of pumps and presses as well as for general rolling bearing applications.
