Blue Angel for Kapsto products made from post-consumer recyclate

Pöppelmann receives the "Blue Angel" award for all Kapsto products made from a post-consumer recyclate (PCR) used at Kapsto.

Pöppelmann Kapsto can now label its resource-saving protective elements with the Blue Angel. This sustainable product concept has thus been recognized by the independent Environmental Label Jury, which awards this label on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment. "We are very pleased about this recognition of our work in terms of responsible plastics processing. It has also enabled us to demonstrate once again that we are setting industry-wide standards with the product concepts of our Pöppelmann blue initiative," says Thorsten Koldehoff, Global Sales Director of the Pöppelmann Division Kapsto. Kapsto plastic protective elements serve as protection against damage and soiling during transportation, storage and the production process.

The Blue Angel has been the German government's environmental label for over 40 years. Independent and credible, it sets demanding standards for products and services. At the same time, this eco-label provides helpful guidance for purchasing sustainable products. The Blue Angel label applies to all products in the Kapsto catalog that are made from a post-consumer recyclate (PCR) used by Kapsto. The material of this PCR polyethylene in the color blue comes from plastic waste collected and sorted after use.

As part of the company-wide Pöppelmann blue campaign, Pöppelmann is increasingly focusing on the use of recycled plastics. The aim is to increase the recycling rate of plastic, close material cycles and thus ensure greater sustainability in the use of our resources. The Pöppelmann Kapsto division has already tested the collection and recycling of protective elements in pilot projects with customers. Since 2019, two existing standard series have been available as resource-saving alternatives in the color "Recycling Blue" as part of the standard program: the GPN 608 PCR-PE, blue, a conical closure with a side flap, and GPN 610 PCR-PE, blue, a universal protection in a conical shape. They are made from 100% recycled plastic, have the same impressive Kapsto quality as the existing standard series and are available directly from stock.
