Compact camera: ready for testing in no time at all
The intelligent compact camera pictor metimus from the manufacturer Vision & Control takes on demanding inspection tasks. The image processing software is already integrated into the hardware along with common inspection sequences. Efficient automatic functions simplify configuration.
The pictor metimus is the latest addition to Vision & Control's range of smart compact cameras. Based on the hardware of the pictor-n series, the image processing software in this model is already installed in the device. Via an Ethernet interface and web interface, it can be operated immediately with practically any PC that has access to the same network, without the need to install any software. Industry 4.0 is not just a buzzword for this camera, but a feature that goes without saying.
Thanks to pre-installed test sequences, the user is freed from time-consuming routines and can concentrate on the essentials. The clearly structured user interface supports the user with sophisticated automatic functions and a clear sequence for finding the optimum image brightness, position tracking and creating the inspection function and its output. According to the company, typical tasks such as measuring distances and angles, 360° pattern searches or presence checks are completed within a few minutes. The camera can accommodate up to 256 inspection programs in total. The inspection areas can be flexibly adjusted, even polygons with curved edges are possible.
With its compact (80 x 45 x 20 mm3) and robust housing, the pictor metimus is built for use in direct machine environments. The dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor provides the necessary computing power. In addition to the Ethernet interface, four opto-decoupled digital I/O interfaces are available for communication with the outside world.
Of course, this compact camera is also compatible with the other vicosys multi-camera systems. The flexible C-mount optics and lighting can also be used with it.
