Remote HMI firmware
For virtual network structures in the process industry
The new version 6.0 of the Remote HMI firmware for thin clients from R. Stahl is optimally tailored to the current requirements of virtual network structures in the process industry.
As a closed system based on Windows 10 IoT, the firmware meets the highest security standards. It supports all relevant protocols for Industry 4.0, virtualized server structures and cloud automation for remote control and process monitoring. The firmware supports RDP and VNC with automatic reconnect for fail-safe, flexible access to virtual, real or cloud-based workstations from any HMI station in hazardous and non-hazardous areas.
Individual workstations that are not connected to the process network can also be integrated using "KVM over IP". Multi-monitor operation enables process information to be distributed to up to six monitors. The automatic diagnostic function detects network or host failures and - depending on the hardware equipment - switches to a backup server using the teaming function. In addition to the pre-installed Windows Defender virus protection, a HORM and UWF filter to protect the drive and fast start of system files ensure system integrity. Individual USB ports can be locked or unlocked using USB lockdown. As a new option, the current firmware version offers the possibility to configure and maintain all thin clients in the network from a central workstation via the Remote HMI Device Manager and to install upgrades. Central features such as the network test, diagnostic functions or establishing a remote connection are accessible via one-click or one-touch in the main menu. The extended dashboard view displays basic system information from the basic settings and connection status to the activated user roles.
R. Stahl has adapted the new Remote HMI firmware for screen resolutions from 640 x 480 (VGA) up to 2560 x 2048 (QSXGA). Brightness and calibration can be set individually and the touch function can be deactivated for cleaning purposes. The manufacturer has adapted the license management so that all the functions described are included in the basic version. The extended PRO version also has an intuitive app concept with self-explanatory icons and short info texts. Its multi-session mode ensures that the login process does not have to be restarted by maintaining all connections in the background. The Pro version is licensed retrospectively on the thin client or via the Remote HMI Device Manager.
