Heidenhain at the AMB

Andreas Mühlbauer,

Process reliability, productivity and resource efficiency in production

Performance,CO2 footprint and digitalization are highly topical issues in machining production - for machine tool manufacturers and users alike. At AMB, Heidenhain will be presenting very specific solutions for the closely interlinked but often still abstract requirements behind these buzzwords.

They enable more chips in less time, perfect machining results from the very first component and highly automated processes with minimal downtimes.

The new control level from Heidenhain

With the new TNC7 control level from Heidenhain, users and manufacturers of machine tools experience completely new possibilities in the programming and operation of their machine tools. This is because operation is intuitive, task-oriented and individual. This is ensured by many smart functions that take workshop-oriented production into a new dimension. And which Heidenhain has further developed for AMB 2022. AMB visitors can discover the new TNC7 at the Heidenhain stand and at the TNC Club stand in Hall 2 as well as at the machine tool manufacturers Axa, Hedelius, Hermle, Matec and Samag.

The new graphical 6D set-up of workpieces

In addition to the graphical setup of clamping devices, the TNC7 now also offers the option of graphically measuring any workpieces up to complex free-form parts in the shortest possible time with the aid of new probing cycles. This allows the TNC7 to visualize the entire production environment - clamping devices, workpiece and machine room - for greater process reliability. This is because this data can be used in advance during programming for a realistic 3D simulation of the machining process. This does not even require a change of operating mode.

Convenient programming with the new NC blocks and dark mode

The new NC modules of the TNC7 ensure particularly convenient working. They allow the user to save any sections of frequently used NC programs as favorites and easily re-insert them into new programs at any time. The dark mode improves the readability and visibility of the TNC7 touchscreen so that users can work comfortably on their control even in difficult lighting conditions.

User-friendly set-up, efficient and reliable milling processes

During the live demonstrations on the machine at the Heidenhain stand, the team of presenters will show how quick, easy and reliable it is to machine a workpiece on the TNC7, from set-up to deburring. With the graphical 6D setup of the workpiece, the blank is measured in no time at all - even if it is a pre-machined complex workpiece. This means that the entire production environment is stored in the TNC7. Machining is carried out with OCM (Optimized Contour Milling), the next generation of whirling milling - which also includes cycles for finishing and deburring. OCM automatically calculates the best contour milling strategy for any pockets and islands. This means that a considerably wider range of components can always be machined with the optimum cutting values for highly productive, reliable and tool-friendly milling. The TNC process monitoring system ensures additional process reliability, while the StateMonitor of the Heidenhain Digital Workshop records and visualizes machine data during ongoing demonstrations.

Software for the digital workshop: The new PlantMonitor

Heidenhain's Digital Workshop offers practical solutions and expert services for end-to-end digitalization with a 360° view of the workshop. This includes, for example, the StateMonitor software for machine data acquisition. It enables a real-time view of the production status of CNC machine tools. Heidenhain is presenting the new PlantMonitor for analyzing production data from several StateMonitors. This means that machines located at different sites or in different production halls can now also be networked.

The Digital Twin

The Digital Twin also ensures greater process reliability in production. It is the true-to-life image of the machine on the Heidenhain programming station. The Digital Twin uses the actual kinematics, parameters and functions of the machine in the workshop during design, program creation and simulation in the office. This saves set-up and simulation times as well as reworking of the program and at the same time increases process reliability and productivity in production.

TCO andCO2 footprint down, production times up

At AMB, Heidenhain will also be presenting various solutions with which users and machine manufacturers can increase resource efficiency. For example, the TS 460 workpiece touch probe with very high measuring feed rates of up to 3000 mm/min enables probing times to be reduced by up to 30%, which users gain as valuable productive time. In the area of machine components, the LC length measuring devices and the RCN angle measuring devices with optimized optics ensure unclouded visibility even in the presence of liquid contamination and condensation. In many cases, the devices work reliably without compressed air. This simplifies the sealing air system, reduces system costs and reduces the machine'sCO2 footprint.
