Embedded Control Units

At embedded world 2022, the Rafi Group will be presenting its recently expanded range of embedded control units for Glasscape operating systems, new Flexscape operating elements for blind operation of touchscreens and the gateway solution Extended Display Link, which allows touch-based HMI panels to be fully connected to application controllers up to 100 m away.

Rafi will also be dedicating an area of the trade fair presentation to its probe series for direct PCB assembly. Current innovations in this segment include the Racon 12 S short-stroke stylus series, which is suitable for glob-top applications thanks to an optimized sealing system. In addition to new products and systems, the Group's E²MS services are another focus of the exhibition. With its comprehensive development and manufacturing expertise for electronic products, the Rafi Group is one of Germany's leading contract manufacturers in the fields of IoT, metering and mobility solutions as well as medical devices and automation technology.

Product innovations at the trade fair stand

In order to guarantee an optimum price-performance ratio for its customer-specific operating systems from the Glasscape range for every requirement, the HMI specialist uses ECUs from its own production. With the new Xtreme ECU, Rafi is completing its range with a high-performance solution based on the x86-based "Elkhart Lake" platform with a processor from Intel's Atom x6000E series. The many advantages of this chip architecture, which is optimized for industrial applications, include low power consumption, which enables fanless operation, as well as support for standard operating systems. As a result, the Xtreme ECU significantly reduces the effort required for application-related software implementation compared to previous ARM-based ECU versions. With the haptic command devices from the Flexscape program, Rafi offers a new solution for tactile-guided blind operation of its Glasscape touch operating systems. The mechanical buttons, finger guides and rotary pushbuttons are fixed to the closed touchscreen surface by the manufacturer without cut-outs or drill holes. At embedded world, Rafi will be presenting the latest pushbutton and rotary encoder versions of the Flexscape One and Flexscape Spin series.

The manufacturer will also be presenting its Extended Display Link signal transmission platform at the trade fair. The system is used in mobile machines, larger systems and other applications in which HMI panels are installed at a greater distance from the CPU for the real-time transmission of high-resolution video and sound data as well as touch, keyboard or other operating signals. Depending on customer requirements, Rafi equips its operating solutions and application controllers with gateways in ascending performance classes for short, medium and long transmission distances of up to 100 m.
