High-performance plastics prevent machine downtimes
In order to avoid machine downtimes, robust and durable machine elements must be used. This is where the lubrication-free and maintenance-free high-performance plastics from igus come into their own. Using the example of industrial trucks, the company will be demonstrating at LogiMAT where motion plastics can be used everywhere. For example, iglidur bearings can already be found in bearing points for high-load swivels, chainflex cables and e-chains with the smallest bending radii and large lifting heights in the mast.
Defects, repairs or maintenance-related downtimes on industrial trucks cause unnecessary costs, as machines cannot be used during this time. Robust and reliable components are therefore required to avoid such failures. This is where motion plastics from igus come into play, as they are specially developed for dynamic applications and have a long service life that can be calculated online. This also includes the highly flexible chainflex cables, which are installed in seats or in the mast, for example. The cables are UV and oil-resistant, flame-retardant and extensively tested in our in-house test laboratory. With a 36-month guarantee and extremely small bending radii, they are ideal for applications with permanent stress.
Route cables safely in confined spaces
In industrial trucks, cables must be routed safely in the tightest of spaces. e-chains have been specially developed for this task, as they not only have a high torsional resistance and a cable-friendly interior, but also allow the smallest of bending radii and internal heights. Their design makes them modular, quick to assemble and very light. The rounded shapes inside the energy chains make them particularly gentle on the cables. In industrial trucks, e-chains are used, for example, for seat adjustment or in the mast of narrow-aisle forklifts, where they protect cables from external influences.
Flexibly adjustable cockpit
Not only energy chains but also linear guides are used for seat adjustment, as the cockpit of an industrial truck must be individually adaptable to the ergonomic needs of the operator at various points. This applies in particular to the headrest, armrests, control elements and doors. With drylin linear guides, easy and quiet adjustability is possible on straight and curved rails with predefined locking points. The drylin linear technology is particularly light, as the carriages slide on iglidur high performance polymers. Therefore, these linear guides do not require additional lubricants and are very low-maintenance, shock-resistant and durable.
Plain bearing for lubrication- and maintenance-free bearing support
The bearing points of industrial trucks also place special demands, such as high loads, on the bearings used. This is where the maintenance-free iglidur bearings show their advantages. The customer can choose from a broad bearing catalog program of over 50 tribo-plastics with special properties. Some materials are characterized by a high load capacity of up to 250 MPa and are therefore installed in bearing points for high-load swivels. Others have particularly low coefficients of friction and are therefore used for steering column bearings or on pedals. However, all iglidur plain bearings have something in common: They have a long service life, are lubricant-free, cost-effective, lightweight and vibration-damping. kp
