Fine-particle matting agent
Evonik's Coating Additives Business Line has a new matting agent in its portfolio: The wax-treated additive EXP 8018-1 is a particularly fine-particle matting agent, is based on precipitated silica and belongs to the well-known Acematt product line.
It was developed for applications where a fine surface feel combined with high transparency is required. The main areas of application are coatings for wood and plastics. Due to its universal character, EXP 8018-1 is equally suitable for water- and solvent-based systems as well as pigmented and clear formulations.
The new product achieves a very fine surface quality in clear coats. Due to the post-treatment, it shows very good stability in terms of settling tendency. The additive also shows very good dispersing behavior and a very fine and clear cut in the grindometer measurement.
