Investment in production and personnel

Walther increases production volume

By investing in modern high-performance tools, Walther Faltsysteme is responding to the increasingly high market demand from the retail and e-commerce sectors. The result: shorter lead times and shorter delivery times. The company has also optimized two products 4.0.

In order to shorten production cycles, Walther has invested significantly in high-performance molds for container production. The modern tools enable faster cooling of the liquid plastic and thus increase the production speed. The company currently produces almost 40,000 containers per week for two project customers in 24/7 operation on just two systems, with Walther handling the entire production volume on more than 20 machines. The company has also increased its personnel capacity by five percent.

Two customers from the retail sector alone have received almost two million containers this year. The company is observing high market demand in the e-commerce sector in particular, but also in the automotive sector and traditional industry. "Containers and load carriers that can also transport information along with the goods are an increasingly strong trend," says Dominik Lemken, authorized signatory and Head of Project Management at Walther.

Further development of proven products
The expert in reusable plastic transport containers has therefore optimized two of its best-selling solutions for use in automated warehouses. The Falter 6432 V1 folding box (basic dimensions 600 x 400 millimetres) and the 8620 V1 trolley (basic dimensions 800 x 600 millimetres) now transmit location data in real time with an integrated RFID chip and in-mould barcode labelling. "Transport solutions that are tailored for use with automated conveyor technology also play an important role," Lemken continues.

The company has therefore also improved the mechanical properties of both transport solutions. "We have adapted and reinforced the contour on the underside of the trolley. This ensures optimum transportation of the containers when used with automated conveyor technology and, among other things, prevents heavy goods from deforming the containers," says Lemken. Another important factor in the redesign was the ergonomic design of the container solutions for intuitive handling. as
