Dematic Robot Piece Picking Module
Robot arm for automatic order picking
Dematic has now developed a robot arm for automated picking. The so-called Robot Piece Picking Module independently selects individual items, lifts them and transports them to the designated bins.
Throughput rates of 600 to 1,200 items per hour are achieved. In this way, the robot arm increases both accuracy and productivity in intralogistics. With the Robot Piece Picking Module, Dematic also completes the automation of all work steps involved in order fulfillment, according to the company. "With the Robot Piece Picking Module, we now offer the option of automating order picking as well," says Crystal Parrott, Head of the Robotics Center of Excellence at Dematic.
The software integrated in the robot arm first scans and verifies the incoming containers and determines the position of the items they contain. The robot arm then picks the products according to the order list and places them in the designated containers. The Robot Piece Picking Module not only increases picking accuracy and efficiency, but also reduces labor costs and speeds up order processing. Products of different types and sizes, such as personal care products, cosmetics, packaged food, office supplies or even industrial spare parts, can be picked automatically using the robotic arm.
The Robot Piece Picking Module can be integrated into both new and existing systems, for example into the Dematic Multishuttle automated storage system or the Autostore piece picking system. The robot arm was developed at Dematic's Robotics Center of Excellence, which specializes in the development of robot-assisted automation technology. as
