Vipac Smalls Sort is the name of the new sorting system from Vitronic, which received a "Best Product" award at Logimat 2019. It is a complete solution for parcel logistics and combines the recording of shipment data and the automatic sorting of smaller shipments.
The manufacturer has designed it specifically for the challenges of e-commerce. The system can be used as a stand-alone solution in small hubs and depots or integrated within the sorting processes in large hubs. Each consignment passes through the infeed, encoding, outfeed and sorting sections and automatically arrives at the desired discharge point. Special software controls all processes and visualizes the data in real time. In the encoding section, Auto-ID systems from Vitronic identify all consignment data. In addition to high-resolution images, the length, width, height and weight of the consignments are recorded. The systems read and process barcodes, 2D codes and plain text (OCR). All data is automatically stored in the archive system and provides valuable insights in terms of Logistics 4.0 to speed up processes in distribution centers and thus reduce costs. pb
