Pick-by-light system
Light shows the way
Order picking affects almost every commercial or industrial company today. Whether in order processing for external customers or as a compilation of requirements for on-site production - without order picking, processes get mixed up.
As a result, customers either receive incorrect deliveries or no goods at all. If the company's own production is not served on time, it stops - which is economically irresponsible. Suitable picking systems therefore support work in the logistics environment. As a variable pick-by-light or pick-to-light system, Mipick from system electronics provider Microsyst not only ensures frictionless and paperless picking, but also reduces the workload and error rates.
Modular system design for more flexibility
Mipick is specially designed to meet the requirements of industrial use. The modular system structure offers a high degree of flexibility and the possibility of expansion at will. Various additional components can also be integrated to make the picking process even simpler or more effective: In addition to light grids, light barriers or acoustic detectors, peripheral devices such as scales, scanners or printers can also be easily connected to the system. The user can also supplement the system at any time with additional visualization, for example with large displays or monitors. The system is connected via the standard industrial interfaces Ethernet TCP/IP, Profibus or Profinet.
Designed for everyday logistics
Mipick ensures effective and efficient logistics processes over the long term thanks to its robust design. The housing channel of the pick displays is made of aluminum and the interchangeable acknowledgement buttons are made of stainless steel. Mounting the pick faces using snap-on devices ensures simple and high-quality system installation. Microsyst supplies numerical displays for displaying the picking data as two-digit displays as standard, while the alphanumeric display has 8 possible digits - in both cases with LED technology developed in-house and also in customer-specific versions on request.

Mipick can be used as a stand-alone system or integrated into a higher-level system. For example, nothing stands in the way of embedding it in an existing system at the customer's premises, such as an enterprise resource planning system (ERP), a production control system (MES) or similar. The central component is a control computer that controls the various system components including peripheral devices, visualization and all accessories. Automatic system monitoring is also integrated.
Background: Voice versus light
- Pick-by-voice: employees in order picking are guided through the relevant picking aisles and shelves by acoustic signals and communication - usually with the aid of headphones - and thus process the order.
- Pick-by-light: Here, light signals and visual displays support and guide the picker to process the order.
