Order picking system
The goods arrive
Wanzl has presented an order picking system based on the goods-to-person principle. It is called "Dynamic Material Handling", is semi-automated and adaptive and is designed to optimize the storage and provision of articles.
At the heart of the system are automated picking warehouses, which are individually configured according to the customer's performance requirements. Entire storage units of different items are available on call. When required, the corresponding units are automatically made available at the ergonomic operator opening, where the picker removes the required quantity before requesting the next item. Two basic systems are available for data management - on the one hand, the warehouse can be connected to an external warehouse management system via a Java-based interface, and on the other hand, it can be organized directly via the machine control system using a touch screen.
Item lists and the allocation of a fixed storage location are obsolete. Once the order has been completed, an autonomous robot (Automated Guided Vehicle AGV) takes over the transportation of the picking trolley to the desired area. Using a gripper arm, the robot maneuvers the trolley to the specified location. Neither a conversion of existing equipment nor special programming knowledge is usually necessary. It is operated and programmed using a tablet or smartphone. pb
