MX-X series narrow-aisle forklift trucks

Field test at the logistics company

The MX-X narrow-aisle forklift trucks from Still set a benchmark in order picking with their performance and user-friendliness. This was demonstrated by the field test of this new vehicle at Schuon Logistik. For a year now, it has been scoring points there with optimum space utilization, flexibility, handling performance and driver comfort.

The business success of logistics service provider Schuon in Haiterbach in the Black Forest is determined not only by smooth logistics processes but also by a high degree of flexibility in the event of product and demand fluctuations. Schuon achieves this with the new MX-X narrow-aisle forklift truck, which is designed for the tough operational requirements of a logistics service provider. The rail-guided MX-X trucks serve the upper rows of racking in the main hall of the warehouse. With the additional lift, the vehicles can effortlessly lift loads at lifting heights of up to 18 meters. The main and additional lift are raised simultaneously to ensure fast access speeds. The MX-X is equipped with the new ALS system, which stabilizes the load - similar to the active load stabilization system on Still's FM-X reach truck - to ensure that loads are not only handled safely, but that the order picking process is also accelerated. This means that the hydraulic control system is used to compensate for vibrations in the mast during storage and retrieval. This enables the extension speed and extension depth to be controlled. In addition to a uniform storage depth, this achieves up to five percent higher handling performance during storage and retrieval.

Schuon delivers up to 20,000 parcels a week. This calls for efficiency and speed. With increasing online trade, employees are increasingly having to pick smaller batch sizes from pallets instead of complete pallets. This is where the MX-X aims to impress with its improved ergonomics. For example, the manufacturer has enlarged the driver's cab and reduced vibrations so that the operator can work without fatigue and increase the pick rate during order picking. The redesign of the swivel push fork mechanism has improved the stability of the additional lift and shortened the distance from the cab to the end of the pallet by 40 millimetres; thanks to the tilt barrier, the distance for the driver when accessing the rack is reduced.

As access speed is crucial for fast order picking, simultaneous operation of the main and additional lift means greater efficiency. The shelf compartment can be approached more quickly and the removed pallet is transported to the transfer point faster. The improved stability of the swivel push fork and the smoother running of the sideshift also ensure safe load handling of the logistics provider's sensitive product range.
