Safe transportation
Modular shipping box
The start-up Box has developed a new concept for transport boxes. The box is a modular system kit that can withstand high loads even when shipping under extreme conditions and protects against damage in transit.
The start-up box was created in 2018 from an optimization idea of the parent company Pro blanket bars, based in Gäufelden-Nebringen. As the global market leader, the blanket bar manufacturer develops, produces and ships blanket profiles in various sizes. For Pro's logistics, it was therefore essential to use sturdy transport crates of variable sizes that were quick and easy to assemble and dismantle, as well as being ergonomic to load.
"The requirement was to find packaging that could withstand loads under extreme conditions during worldwide shipping and protect them from transport damage," explains Timo Bisinger, Managing Director of Box. Based on these requirements, Pro initially developed special transport boxes just for their own needs. With far-reaching advantages that are also important for the entire logistics and other shipping industries.
The principle of the box: a modular system with a wide range of options. According to the manufacturer, the box is flexible and offers independently tested stability in all variants; it can even withstand 20 tons of weight, i.e. three full-grown elephants, without damage. This minimizes the damage rate with a single wall thickness - without the use of inner and outer strips.
A competitive advantage that also attracted the attention of the insurance industry and resulted in a close cooperation with a well-known insurance company. Bisinger is certain: "We are so convinced of the stability of our box that we guarantee our customers the service life for the corresponding types. If something should happen to the box - despite correct handling - within this period, customers will immediately receive a new box from us free of charge."
A variable interior design and a volume-optimized logistics chain are further important features that lead to increased efficiency in logistics. Almost all crates can therefore be used several times.
In mid-May, a configurator for mapping individual crate requirements directly by the customer was also presented. Using an online link and without any software installation, customers can design their individual box in five minutes. Bisinger explains: "Together with a technical box expert, the size, material, interior and pallet design are defined with just a few clicks. The data for the box created digitally in this way is then transferred directly to the fully automated production process." as
