Logimat 2018: Intralogistics at first hand

The supporting programme of the 16th International Trade Fair for Intralogistics Solutions and Process Management is characterized by comprehensive information on the sustainable topics of digitalization, Industry 4.0, Logistics 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT).

"Intralogistics at first hand - for trade visitors to Logimat, this traditionally applies both to communication with the exhibitors and to the sophisticated supporting program," emphasizes Peter Kazander, Exhibition Director Logimat and Managing Director of trade fair organizer Euroexpo Messe- und Kongress-GmbH, Munich. "With the motto: 'Digital - Networked - Innovative', the 16th International Trade Fair for Intralogistics Solutions and Process Management not only outlines the current challenges for intralogistics and supply chain, but also the range of topics, especially the numerous specialist forums."

Logimat 2018 implements this motto with a comprehensive supporting program on all three days of the trade fair: three serial live events, more than 40 specialist presentations by exhibitors each day in the "Forum Innovations" and around 30 90-minute lecture series with more than 100 proven experts from business, science and trade media. They will cover the education and information needs of the trade audience on the trend topics that are driving the market today and tomorrow. In particular, the focus is on digital transformation and the future projects Industry 4.0, Logistics 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Integration of new technologies

The thematic preparation of digitalization runs like a common thread through the offering. This includes topics such as "Narrow Band IoT, 5G and the Industrial Data Space in Logistics" (13.3.2018, Forum A, Hall 1). They enable optimization through the transmission of small amounts of data over long periods of time in hard-to-reach places. 'AutoID technologies' (14.3.2018, Forum C, Hall 4) and systems for 'Indoor localization as the key to Industry 4.0' (15.3.2018, Forum B, Hall 3) will also focus on the intelligent integration of new technologies in data collection and processing.

"Transport and handling - autonomous all by itself" (14.3.2018, Forum A, Hall 1) discusses the future requirements of intralogistics material flows with autonomous interlinking of all processes. The options for digital transformation and a future-proof orientation of "Material flows in the age of Industry 4.0" (14.3.2018, Forum C, Hall 4) will also be explored in detail in forums tailored to the various industry segments. For example, the AGV forum will shed light on the "State of the art, examples and outlook" (13.3.2018, Forum E, Hall 9) and the "Building blocks of intelligent mobile robots" (15.3.2018, Forum E, Hall 9).

"The topic of 'mobile robots' in particular can be seen as synonymous with digital transformation and all current development trends and future solutions for intralogistics," summarizes Kazander. "It encompasses various sensor, image processing, data acquisition and processing technologies and their networked provision. It also reflects the developments in hardware for industrial trucks and conveyor technology as well as the aspects of autonomization and swarm intelligence. Current developments in software and control technology are also addressed. And: It includes the design of future working environments in which man and machine cooperate harmoniously. All in all: intralogistics at first hand: digital - networked - innovative. Or in short: Logimat 2018." cs
