E-mobility in logistics and facility services
Intelligent charging technology
At the LogiMAT logistics trade fair from 10 to 12 March, Kuka will be presenting the Carla_connect charging assistant, which has a standardized, modular docking technology. This enables a flexible supply of electrical energy and various media. The RA660 Navi XL floor cleaning robot and Swisslog with its SynQ software platform for warehouse management will also be at the trade fair. Kuka will be represented there on a joint stand with Schöler Fördertechnik and Cleanfix, presenting the fully automatic and convenient loading and filling of various vehicles.
The future is e-mobile and requires innovative charging solutions for the automated and uncomplicated charging of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Focusing on the future trends of mobility, Kuka first identified the problems and barricades of previously developed and currently used charging technologies. The challenge was to develop a charging solution that enables simple and fast handling, flexible parking positioning, safe and reliable charging and intuitive operation. The intelligent and automated Kuka charging assistant carla_connect, which is the result of many years of intensive research cooperation with the Volkswagen Group, meets all these requirements.
Whether private vehicles, industrial commercial vehicles or passenger transportation vehicles - whether in private, public or industrial use: carla_connect is prepared for different areas of application and media supply requirements. For e-mobility, the Kuka charging assistant carla_connect reliably and automatically carries out the plugging and charging process for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, and even fully automatically for appropriately equipped vehicles. The intelligent position detection using a camera and the large working area make the application independent of exact parking positioning and the placement of the inlet on the vehicle. The connection of additional vehicles or a model change are thus solved flexibly and sustainably.
Cleanfix produces the fully automatic floor cleaning robot RA660 Navi. To ensure fully autonomous operation, the challenge was to develop an automatic docking system that both refills fresh water and charges electrical energy. The specified criteria for the new Cleanfix RA660 Navi XL cleaning robot were speed, process reliability and model independence.
Cleanfix and Kuka had the idea of integrating existing components from the automotive industry into industrial mobility. The proven plug technology of e-charging technology can also be used in the industrial sector for charging electrically powered industrial trucks. The technology of the tank filler neck proved to be very suitable for the supply of liquid media.
In addition to the loading assistant, Kuka subsidiary Swisslog will once again be represented at LogiMAT. This year, Swisslog is focusing on data-driven systems: Flexible robotics and intelligent automation based on the SynQ software platform will take center stage at the logistics trade fair. The intralogistics specialist will be focusing on its in-house SynQ software platform and project applications with the ItemPiQ small parts robotic picking system.
