Jungheinrich withdraws annual forecast for 2020
In view of the great uncertainty surrounding the future impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, Jungheinrich's Board of Management has withdrawn its forecast for 2020. The figures for the first quarter of 2020 were not yet heavily impacted by the pandemic.
The current spread of the pandemic in all regions of the world and the containment measures adopted by governments do not currently allow a reliable assessment of Jungheinrich's business development over the remainder of the year. Since the publication of the forecast report on March 18, 2020, uncertainty regarding the expected effects has increased significantly, the company announced. Since the beginning of April, there has also been a considerable decline in demand across all regions and product segments, which will lead to a significant drop in incoming orders and a corresponding decline in sales over the course of the year. The forecast will be updated as soon as the global containment efforts result in a weakening of the pandemic and the impact on further business development during the remainder of 2020 can be reliably quantified.
Business figures for the first quarter of 2020
The Jungheinrich Group's business performance in the first quarter of 2020 was not yet significantly affected by the pandemic. Incoming orders amounted to 1,016 million euros (previous year: 1,021 million euros), while Group sales amounted to 920 million euros in the first three months of the current year (previous year: 948 million euros) against the backdrop of the good order backlog at the end of the 2019 financial year.
According to the press release, production at all Jungheinrich plants is currently running at an adjusted level and the supply chains are largely intact. The Group's other sites are also operating without major restrictions, as far as local government regulations allow. The ability to deliver is currently guaranteed. Our customer service technicians are working all over the world, as far as this is possible under the respective local conditions. as
