Joint venture with Triathlon
Jungheinrich invests in lithium-ion technology
Jungheinrich and Triathlon are establishing a joint venture for the production and remanufacturing of lithium-ion battery systems in Glauchau, Saxony, under the name JT Energy Systems. Operations are scheduled to start in August 2019.
The formation is subject to the approval of the project by the responsible competition authorities. Jungheinrich holds a 70 per cent stake and Triathlon a 30 per cent stake in the joint venture. JT Energy Systems intends to create around 100 new jobs at the site over the next few years.
The aim of the joint venture between Jungheinrich and Triathlon is to jointly build up production capacities to meet the rapidly growing demand for lithium-ion battery systems and to expand their technological leadership in this area. JT Energy will supply both Triathlon and Jungheinrich.
"For our customers, energy efficiency and the continuous availability of their trucks are decisive competitive advantages - we support this with our trucks and solutions with the benefits of lithium-ion technology. The exponentially increasing sales figures of recent years show that the intralogistics industry is consistently shifting towards lithium-ion technology," says Hans-Georg Frey, CEO of Jungheinrich. "Thanks to this cooperation with Triathlon, we will continue to leverage the potential in the market for electric trucks and jointly expand the technical development of this future technology." as
