14th Forklift Cup 2018
In Aschaffenburg, the stacking race is on
In Aschaffenburg, people will once again be stacking, maneuvering and maneuvering for all they're worth. The best forklift drivers from 13 nations compete in four disciplines, while the supporting program features guest stars such as Dieter Thoma and the Berlin band Culcha Candela.
The final of the Staplercup on the Schlossplatz in Aschaffenburg from September 20 to 22, 2018 will be the highlight of an exciting qualification season for many thousands of forklift professionals from all over the world. More than 2,000 forklift drivers took part in 25 nationwide preliminary competitions for the German Forklift Driving Championship alone; in twelve other countries, forklift driving competitions were also held - some at regional level, others at national level - with the aim of finding the three most capable forklift drivers in the country for the International Championship in addition to crowning national champions.
For the fourth discipline, the Corporate Team Championship, four qualifying places were also offered for the first time in 2018, and fifteen other teams from large companies such as Volkswagen, Deutsche Bahn and SMP Germany were seeded by the organizer.
The tight competition courses with challenging transportation and loading tasks reflect the working conditions and requirements in warehouses and logistics companies. They demand maximum concentration, a sense of proportion and an enormous feel for the forklift truck. The main focus of the organizer Linde is therefore the safety regulations, because contributing to the reduction of accidents at work with forklifts is a declared goal: "Despite innovative technologies, assistance systems and digital solutions to improve safety, the most important factor for us remains the human factor. We sensitize forklift drivers to safety aspects and let them carry this message into their companies," explains Marc Wehner, Senior Vice President Central Europe.
Staplercup partner BGHW is pulling in the same direction with a certification for trainers of forklift truck drivers; and the Bavarian State Minister of Justice, Prof. Dr. Winfried Bausback, also supports this cause as the new patron of the Staplercup.
The Staplercup hilft e.V. association uses the attention of the many thousands of spectators at the forklift driving championships for charitable purposes. With the help of a charity raffle, over 275,000 euros have been raised since the association was founded in 2008. Dieter Thoma, ski jumping legend and ARD TV commentator for international ski jumping events, could be won over for this year's Promicup, in which well-known personalities take on easy forklift tasks for a charity project. He is involved in the "Spielend Helfen e.V." association. This association organizes charity golf tournaments for the benefit of handicapped children and was founded by Thoma together with his friend Harry Bodmer, world champion in artistic cycling, after the end of his active sporting career.
Partners and sponsors present themselves at the Championsexpo infotainment trade fair: Linde, Continental and Westfalengas offer innovations from the world of logistics to touch and try out.
The final event on Saturday will be the "Night of Champions" from 8.30 pm after the finals of the two German championships and the award ceremonies: a free open-air concert on Aschaffenburg's Schlossplatz. Star guest 2018: The Berlin band Culcha Candela promises great music and will be presenting their latest album "Feel Erfolg" as well as their successful mix of hip-hop and reggae that has been going strong for 16 years. as
