Pallet picking systems
Fast-Pick-Station goes international
On course for international success: Winkel's fast-pick stations are increasingly being sold to other European countries; 75 systems are in operation worldwide and around 20 stations are on order.
The pallet picking systems are mainly used in the food industry, drugstore logistics and in electronics wholesale. Winkel also points out the following advantages: 'The stations simplify logistics processes, and the increased processing speed means they reduce costs. As a result, the systems can pay for themselves within a short period of time.
The fast-pick station has a two-storey design: The picking table is located on a platform on the upper floor. Employees are served different packages, parcels and trays with mixed goods via a conveyor line and pick them onto waiting pallets according to the order. Underneath the platform is a shaft into which the pallets can be gradually lowered. This function ensures that the work surface is always at the optimum height. Staff do not have to laboriously lift the often heavy parcels, but simply move them horizontally onto the load carrier. Up to 800 picks and thus around ten tons of goods per hour are possible in this way. Winkel has recently started offering versions in which the chute dimensions can be individually adjusted. This is necessary for different pallet formats.
An automatic film stretcher is integrated into the chute. Once a pallet is fully loaded, it is conveyed downwards and then wrapped in a resistant film to secure it for further transportation. A special feature is the pallet buffer: the solution provides an empty pallet immediately as the full pallet is lowered. The fully packaged load carrier is transferred directly from the chute to a conveyor system. The station then places another empty pallet in the buffer - while work continues at the top. The patented integrated pallet storage system is a new feature. Winkel supplies the fast-pick station including control system and stretcher.
Winkel also offers depalletizing stations for unloading incoming goods. They consist of a lifting system with an ergonomically designed workstation. The full pallets are lifted here and unloaded mechanically or manually on an intermediate platform. as
