AGV system for assembly plant
DS Automotion wins largest order in the company's history
DS Automotion is equipping a new assembly plant for electric car batteries with an AGV system. By 2020, 150 vehicles will be in operation. At 19 million euros, it is the largest order in the company's history.
Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) from DS Automotion are taking over more and more internal transportation tasks. They make assembly processes in industry more flexible, as they can react to changing requirements better than any alternative. This is why many manufacturers use the systems from Linz to assemble batteries for electromobility.
At the end of 2017, DS Automotion was awarded the first part of a three-year contract to equip a new assembly plant for electric car batteries in Germany with an automated guided vehicle system (AGV). When the system goes into full operation at the end of 2020 after several partial start-ups, it will be one of the world's largest AGV systems with around 150 vehicles of different types. At a total of EUR 19 million, it is the largest order in the more than 30-year history of the Linz-based company.
DS Automotion serves different requirements with both track-guided and freely navigating AGVs and is one of the world's leading manufacturers in this field. The AGVs enable agile assembly according to the principles of Industry 4.0, allowing production to be designed flexibly with regard to future requirements that cannot yet be foreseen. This is also the main reason why numerous e-car manufacturers in Europe and the USA use AGVs, including most German premium manufacturers, according to the company. as
