Room for delicacies

A combination of forklift trucks and narrow aisle widths has led to better utilization of the storage space at the Arzberg site of Rudolf and Robert Houdek. The company, headquartered in Starnberg, is one of the 20 largest meat processing companies in Germany.

At the same time as the new racking systems were completed in December 2018, three Combilift 20SHE Aisle Master units with electric drive and a load capacity of 2,000 kilograms were delivered. The racking heights of 8.20 meters and aisle widths of 2.10 meters have significantly optimized the storage density and consequently the costs per pallet. In total, 520 storage locations could be accommodated in a flow rack (FIFO) and 820 storage locations in two double racks. The Aisle Master can load to the left, to the right and to the front without taking up much space. The appliances move swiftly and quickly within the aisles and are also maneuverable in confined spaces. Even at a lifting height of 8,450 meters, the pallets weighing 500 to 800 kilograms can be placed and removed safely and without any problems. A fork carriage camera helps with fine positioning with a direct view of the pallet entry pockets via a color monitor. as
