JBT at the Logimat
AGVs for the automotive industry
The automated guided vehicles (AGVs) from JBT automatically transport special containers, racks and pallets from the storage room to the production site. As soon as the contents are exhausted, the AGVs return the container to its original location for refilling.
The JBT solution includes full integration of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) as well as inventory management. "Precision stacking solutions ensure that AGVs stack containers and racks correctly. Combined with point-of-production deployment, this application provides more comprehensive material handling automation and improves efficiency within a plant," said Mark Stevenson, JBT's Sales Manager for AGVs in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Stevenson stated that in order to maintain a leading position in the rapidly changing global market, European vehicle manufacturers have been at the forefront of developing highly flexible manufacturing processes through the application of Industry 4.0. JBT's advanced AGV technology is a data-driven, natural solution for Industry 4.0 initiatives and an integral part of this exciting transformation.
"The systems deliver a very advantageous ROI and are particularly user- and maintenance-friendly. This enables us to achieve the lowest possible total cost of ownership for a system." All of JBT's flexible production systems can be implemented with different types of AGVs, including in work areas without forklifts, depending on the needs of the facility. These solutions are flexible and allow customers to increase the efficiency and flexibility of their operations. as
