Digitalization meets fire protection practice

At the "Feuertrutz 2018" trade fair in Nuremberg (21 - 22 February 2018), the Siemens Building Technologies Division showcased fire alarm technology with a focus on digitalization. One example of this is Building Information Modeling (BIM). According to the manufacturer, BIM can be used to optimize processes, data and tools, from planning and construction to ongoing operation.

In addition to digital simulations, visitors to the Siemens stand were also treated to live fire tests. A smoke column was used to demonstrate detection reliability in challenging environmental conditions, such as those caused by welding work.

Thanks to the manufacturer's integrated ASA technology (Advanced Signal Analysis), Sinteso fire detectors are able to distinguish between fire variables and disturbance variables without deception. The patented ASAtechnology detection method is a further development of algorithm technology. The detection behavior can be adapted to the respective operating conditions with corresponding parameter sets.

A significant difference to algorithm technology lies in the real-time interpretation of the situation and the dynamic influencing of the selected parameter set based on this. The individual parameters of the selected parameter set are no longer fixed, but are changed depending on the sensor signals. This extends the application range of the detector, which is synonymous with greater dynamics. In the event of a fire, a detector with ASAtechnology reacts more sensitively, in the event of deception more robustly than a detector with algorithm technology. sw
