Zimmer expands its industrial shock absorber family

Zimmer's PowerStop industrial shock absorber family is growing under the name PowerStop 2.0. The new optimized family is now available in four series.

The Mini Energy series starts with the small sizes from M4 to M6. This is followed by the basic Standard Energy model. The third main series, High Energy, represents what Zimmer describes as the current ultimate with the highest energy absorption - in terms of installation space - on the market. Behind the Adjustable Energy series is an adjustable High Energy damper, which covers the full speed range from 0.1 to five meters per second. The different impact speeds can be conveniently and variably adjusted in order to optimally dampen different masses or energies. While the Standard and High Energy series are already established on the market and have now been revised and extended in terms of thread sizes, the Adjustable Energy series is a real novelty.

With both series (High Energy and Adjustable Energy), you have the choice between a long-stroke or normal-stroke version if either a strong and short deceleration or a gentler damping process with slightly less deceleration is required. With the Adjustable Energy, it is also possible to adjust the shock absorber so that the entire stroke can be utilized in order to achieve the smoothest possible damping. Compared to the existing series, the degrees of hardness have remained the same, but the degree of hardness W (soft) has been increased from the previous 1.8 to four to three to five meters per second impact speed.

Protection for any environment
The optimized dampers now have various types of protection against different dirty environments as standard, which were previously only available on request. In addition to the damper without protection for clean assembly environments, customers can choose a damper with a felt ring that is resistant to dust and chips, for example for use in wood processing. Alternatively, a product with a wiper is available - suitable for use with liquids and hydraulic media.

However, the version with a bellows provides the best possible protection according to the manufacturer. Here, nothing can penetrate the damper or escape to the outside. Possible areas of application include operation in particularly dirty environments such as in grinding machines (abrasive media), applications exposed to cooling lubricants under pressure or in very clean environments such as in food or clean room applications. The highly tough and media-resistant TPC material known from the BasicStop damper series is used as a more durable protective cover.

The entire PowerStop family consists of a housing and a piston rod made of high-quality stainless steel. This guarantees a high level of corrosion protection. Foreign particles cannot adhere to the housing and can be cleaned very easily.

New accessories and features
The new PowerStop 2.0 is initially available in thread sizes M4-M36 and will be expanded to include thread sizes M45 + M64 in the future. In addition to the product expansion, accessories have also been added. In addition to the accessories already available, a sensor stop sleeve for detecting or determining the final position of the moving component is new. This allows the user to increase performance or reduce cycle times.

Another new feature, in addition to the clamping flange that can be screwed on from above, is a clamping flange that can be screwed on in the direction of the industrial shock absorber. This is flat, which makes it easier to attach using standard bolts, especially with large thread diameters. A bolt pre-positioning in normal and long stroke for absorbing lateral forces during rotary damping processes with a choice of felt ring or wiper. A proven pressure chamber seal for sealing when installing the damper in a swivel unit or a pneumatic cylinder has also been integrated into the accessories range as a new standard product.

As additional features, four new thread pitches have been added to the series and all dampers now use a new type of bio-based oil that has H1 food certification. This means that the standard version of the stainless steel shock absorber is now also suitable for use in cleanroom or food areas. as
