Digitalization of linear technology
The entire life cycle becomes digital
At Automatica, Bosch Rexroth will be demonstrating the benefits of an end-to-end digital journey through the entire life cycle. Software tools accompany the linear technology components and systems.
Design engineers are under enormous time pressure and every simplification in the workflow helps them. Bosch Rexroth pursues this approach with coordinated online tools for the selection, design and configuration of linear axes and multi-axis systems. Design engineers simply enter the boundary conditions such as stroke, weight of the workpieces and cycle time. The tools generate suggestions that the user checks in their CAD environment and then orders at the click of a mouse. In the future, a digital twin will accompany the components and systems throughout their lives. It can be integrated into all virtual environments and enables, for example, successful simulations to be loaded directly into the control system.
Digital nameplates on the linear systems transmit all individual product data during commissioning or servicing and the technician can start fine-tuning immediately. At Automatica, Bosch Rexroth will be using the example of a multi-axis system with its own intelligence to show the entire range of production-ready and near-production digital solutions that enable designers and users to react more flexibly and quickly to changing conditions.
Overall, when developing new software tools, Bosch Rexroth is guided by the operating philosophies of mobile devices, which users are very familiar with from their private lives. They can therefore quickly find their way around the linear technology user interfaces by tapping, zooming or swiping.
In the factory of the future, sensors will constantly record all operating and environmental data for all machine modules. In addition to the absolute value position, sensors integrated into the carriages of the linear guides also record other operating conditions such as temperature or vibrations. A second option is offered by the intelligent servomotors, which also perform sensor functions. Users can also attach sensors from the Bosch Rexroth portfolio externally to the axes and connect them via open interfaces. As part of condition monitoring, the sensor information provides information on necessary maintenance and servicing tasks through to the automatic ordering of spare parts.
The digitalization of linear technology by Bosch Rexroth opens up previously untapped potential for increasing productivity and flexibility in day-to-day operations. Some of the software solutions presented by Bosch Rexroth are already available, are about to be released or provide a preview of what is to come in the next few years. as
