TPU protects

ACE has further developed the small shock absorbers from its Protection series. The PMCN family, specially designed for use under difficult production conditions, is now available with protective caps made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU).

The PMCN small shock absorbers with distinctive protective caps made of TPU plastic are available in sizes M14 to M25, with damper strokes of 12.5 to 25.4 millimetres and energy absorption of 20 to 136 Newton meters per stroke. © (Image: ACE)

The protective cap, designed like a bellows, is even more effective in preventing aggressive media from entering the sealing system of the miniature shock absorbers. The improved protection results from the lower rigidity of the TPU plastic and its reduced shock sensitivity. The soft but stable material also means that there is no need for an additional internal return spring. This leads to a further increase in service life.

In contrast to the previous Teflon bellows, the new one is clipped on without bonding, making it even less sensitive. Aggressive cutting, cooling lubricants and cleaning agents have no chance of mixing with the hydraulic oil inside the shock absorber body. In contrast to inferior solutions, which quickly fail due to overfilling, the damping medium and function of the maintenance-free, ready-to-install ACE shock absorbers remain intact.
