Polymer spherical plain bearing

No lubrication required despite metal

Heavy soiling, dust and swarf are part of everyday life for pedestal and flange bearings. With Igus injection-molded spherical caps, customers can rely on a lubricant-free and maintenance-free solution for their metal housing bearings.

Metal and lubrication go hand in hand in mechanical engineering. Igus shows that this does not always have to be the case. The specialist has developed its Igubal replacement spherical caps especially for pedestal and flange bearings with metal housings. These are made of the high-performance polymer Iglidur J and thus reduce costs, as lubrication and maintenance are no longer necessary. The use of polymers prevents dirt and dust from adhering to the bearing, which also reduces wear and prevents unplanned machine downtime. The replacement bearings are therefore also suitable for use in agriculture and farming, in the food industry or in plant and mechanical engineering.

The igubal spherical caps come directly from injection molding and are therefore cost-effective, the company promises. Instead of ball bearings, they can be mounted in existing classic metal plummer block and flanged bearing housings and also in low-cost sheet metal housings in just a few seconds. The bearing system, consisting of a sheet metal housing and Igubal spherical cap, is available directly from stock. The plastic spherical cap has a high fatigue strength and its service life can be easily calculated online.

Lubricant-free running
The spherical caps made of Iglidur J are not only cost-effective, but also have a very low friction coefficient in dry running. The material absorbs very little moisture, making the spherical caps suitable for outdoor use. Thanks to the chemical resistance of the high-performance plastic, the replacement spherical caps can also be used in chemically aggressive applications such as agricultural engineering or glass processing. as
