Quickly clipped with new Iglidur

Igus has clip-on and wrap-around bearings in its range for lubrication-free mounting. They are used in sheet metal bushings due to their simple installation. Igus has developed the material Iglidur K230 to withstand high edge loads under extreme conditions.

As a rule, sheet metal constructions do not offer the possibility of pressing a plain bearing into a locating bore or housing and fixing it in this way. Instead, a bearing must line the often only roughly punched hole in the sheet metal and thus guide the shaft securely. Fast assembly, both manual and automated, as well as security against loss are further requirements. Igus has clip bearings in its range for such cases. The name is derived from the simple assembly process in which the slotted plain bearing is guided through the hole with the smaller of the two collars and then clipped into place.

In addition to the standard range of clip bearings, there are numerous customized solutions. These include bearings in which the second collar is created by flanging after insertion into the bore. These solutions have proven their worth in car seat bearings, for example. What all designs have in common is that a high degree of flexibility and toughness is required of the plain bearing material used: for quick assembly and to withstand the high edge loads in the sheet metal bushings. The new Igus material Iglidur K230 has these properties.

Elastic for easy installation

The lubricant-free material Iglidur K230 is highly elastic and flexible, making it suitable for flanged and clip bearings. Tests in the Igus laboratory also show that the newly developed high-performance plastic seamlessly joins the best Iglidur standard materials in terms of wear resistance. It only absorbs extremely small amounts of moisture and has very good universal media resistance. It can also be used without hesitation in applications with a damp environment. The new material can also demonstrate its advantages in applications with high temperatures of up to 130 degrees Celsius. Igus is initially offering the material Iglidur K230 specifically for clip and wrap-around bearings in customized designs. On request, the flexible material is also available as plain bearings in standard sizes. as
