Precise linear table

Many applications in automation technology require positioning systems that meet high requirements in terms of precision and dynamics; at the same time, acquisition costs also play a role.

With the V-408 PIMag linear stage, Physik Instrumente (PI) has a suitable solution for simple automation tasks in its range. At 80 millimetres wide and 25 millimetres high, the V-408 has a compact design and is suitable for travel distances of up to 25 or 50 millimetres and speeds of up to 1.5 meters per second, which enables high throughput rates. The smallest increment is 20 nanometers with a bidirectional repeatability of plus/minus 0.1 micrometers. If required, the linear stages can also be combined to form multi-axis systems. The system is driven by three-phase linear motors. Their iron core maximizes the magnetic forces in a small installation space and ensures high accelerations and thermal stability of the drive.

Crossed roller bearings with cage guidance guarantee high guidance accuracy and load capacity. Position detection directly on the moving platform prevents non-linearities, mechanical play or elastic deformations from influencing the positioning. The linear axes are controlled via the PI controller C-891 or - for multi-axis applications - via an industrial controller from ASC, a manufacturer of modular motion controllers that PI acquired at the beginning of 2017. pb
