Fixing of rotary and swivel axes

With its DKHS1000 series of clamping and braking elements for profile rail guides, Zimmer presented a world first at Motek 2019: hydraulic rotary clamping elements for high-precision fixing of the angular position of rotary axes and rotary tables in machine tools.

The element releases the rotating flange connection via the elastic deformation of the housing under hydraulic pressure. According to the manufacturer, the hydraulic series exceeds the cycles of conventional rotary clamping elements with pneumatic actuation due to the design of the element in the fatigue-resistant elastic range. This further increases the availability of machine tools. In the event of a drop in hydraulic pressure, the rotating shaft connection is clamped and held securely in position by the preload of the housing. In addition, backlash-free functional components achieve a high level of accuracy in the rotary range, which is lower than the resolution of conventional rotary encoders. as
