Partnership: T-Systems and Siemens
Driving forward the digitalization of German industry
T-Systems and Siemens announced a new partnership for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) at Digital X 2019 in Cologne.
The two technology companies want to work together to offer industrial customers complete solutions in the areas of operational technologies, information technology and telecommunications - based on the open cloud-based IoT operating system MindSphere from Siemens.
The joint digitalization solutions are aimed at a wide range of business applications: Enterprise Resource Planning, Customer Relationship Management, Supply Chain Management and Manufacturing Engineering Systems. The basis for this is the coupling of telecommunications with operational technology (OT). State-of-the-art telecommunications ensure data transport, analysis and interaction in real time. The connection to the operational technologies optimizes drive technology, production sequences and operating processes, for example.
"Together, we will drive and shape the digitalization of German industry. The new solutions with technologies such as 5G, cloud and edge computing will improve industrial operations and processes," says T-Systems CEO Adel Al-Saleh.
"As part of our partnership, we are helping German companies to drive forward the digital transformation of industry and accelerate the use of industrial IoT solutions," says Jan Mrosik, Chief Operating Officer of Siemens Digital Industries.
T-Systems brings connectivity solutions such as NB-IoT, campus networks and 5G to the partnership. The Deutsche Telekom subsidiary also has expertise in the specialist areas of system integration and data analysis. Siemens is on board with MindSphere, its cloud-based, open IoT operating system, as well as with automation offerings for manufacturing and comprehensive expertise in vertical industrial digitalization.
Both partners have already put together a team of IoT experts. Together, they support customers from consulting to the implementation of new solutions. The first concrete areas of application are machine health, predictive analytics and fleet management.
Further information on the solutions and application examples will be presented at DigitalX in Cologne and at SPS in Nuremberg.
