Optimization of material replenishment processes

Plug-and-play solution for E-Kanban control

At LogiMat 2019, the Wireless division of Steute Technologies will be presenting an automated system solution for optimizing material replenishment processes for the first time. The new development digitalizes, networks and automates the Kanban process.

Wireless sensors automatically record the current material requirements and transmit the corresponding data to the material management system without delay, where the automated booking is made in the ERP system. A modern dashboard provides a clear status visualization of all E-Kanban locations.

The system components communicate via a low-power wireless network equipped with the latest wireless technology. This makes the new software solution ideal for flexibly connecting mobile intralogistics components and systems to the industrial data world. In addition to Kanban racks, AGV fleets are also typical applications. The user benefits from a continuous flow of information - from the sensor via the access points and the Sensor Bridge as a service manager - through to the IT applications.

According to the company, the software can be easily adapted to individual requirements. For example, the user can configure whether one sensor is installed per shelf compartment or whether it is a multi-level Kanban system. Switchgear and sensors specially developed for this application, such as a wireless rocker switch for detecting the occupancy of shelves and spaces, are also part of Steute's "Wireless" range.

This provides users with a complete solution for controlling e-Kanban systems, which can be easily configured without programming and therefore only requires a short commissioning time. According to the company, the advantages of the wireless system are: no signal lines, continuous communication, robust data transmission, easy adaptation to changing conditions (e.g. integration of additional Kanban racks/sensors).

In the next step, the company will introduce further software modules for defined applications. The aim is to provide intralogistics customers with complete solutions for the integration of systems and subsystems into the higher-level IT infrastructure. In this way, the company intends to develop from a component manufacturer into a service provider that also advises companies on the planning of wireless networks in production and logistics.

At LogiMat 2019, Steute will be demonstrating the various sWave.Net applications in material flow on a 3D model, including with mobile AGVs. In addition, the functions of the new software will be shown in a demo environment.
