Flexibility of systems
Hanover Fair special show: Modular production
At the special show "Process Industrie 4.0: The Age of Modular Production", ISPE, NAMUR, ProcessNet, VDMA and ZVEI will be demonstrating how the flexibility of systems in the process industry can be increased through modularization.
Standardized interfaces and modules that can be interconnected in a system-neutral way - based on the MTP (Modular Type Package) concept, which gives the individual modules a digital description - are the key to greater flexibility in systems. The increased flexibility should not require any greater effort. The new technology is about to be launched on the market.
"With the availability of market-ready components for modular automation, the first modular plants can now also be realized in the chemical-pharmaceutical process industry, which we urgently need to react quickly and flexibly to market requirements," says Frank Stenger (Evonik), Chairman of the "Modular Plants" working group at ProcessNet. According to the company, the combination and interconnection of modular units via MTP allows plants to be modified more quickly than before and simplifies plant design.
According to Richard Clemens, Managing Director of the VDMA Process Equipment and Apparatus Association, there are numerous new opportunities for apparatus manufacturers. Partners of the special show "Process Industrie 4.0: The Age of Modular Production" include ISPE, NAMUR, ProcessNet - an initiative of Dechema and VDI -, VDMA Process Engineering Machinery and Equipment and ZVEI.
