New software version released
OSIsoft has released a new edition of PI Integrator for Business Analytics. The company aims to reduce the cost and complexity of industrial analytics and close the gap between operations and IT.
The PI system captures the extensive data streams from sensors, machines and other devices and transforms them into meaningful real-time insights by adding contextualization, metadata, event alerts, asset frameworks (e.g. digital twins) and visualization, among other things. It serves to record operational processes on the one hand and as an environment for data-based decision-making on the other.
The Advanced Edition of PI Integrator for Business Analytics has been enhanced with data streaming capabilities and can immediately deliver updated data to Microsoft Azure as well as stream processing modules, data lakes, data warehouses or multiple cloud platforms as changes occur. Thanks to streaming updates, IT specialists and machine learning algorithms can work with comprehensive, up-to-date data sets, enabling better decision-making and continuous algorithm training.
AI modeling for predictive analyses
With the new version, a manufacturer can stream performance data from thousands of devices controlled and stored by the PI system. Through integration with the Microsoft Azure IoT Hub, streaming data can be used for continuous AI modeling for predictive analytics and to analyze the financial impact of changes in the supply chain.
"It can take days or even weeks to prepare large amounts of data for analysis. The Advanced Edition of PI Integrator for Business Analytics can reduce this to a few minutes," says Christoph Papenfuss, Regional Sales Manager DACH at OSIsoft. "By taking away the tedious work of data preparation, PI Integrator technology paves the way for people who want to experiment with industrial analytics and ultimately change their workflows."
Operational and machine data are essential components of the digital transformation. Unfortunately, it can take a lot of effort to make it usable. Kevin Prouty, Group VP at IDC Energy and Manufacturing Insights, says: "Operational data from an industrial plant is fundamentally different from traditional IT data. This is one of the uncomfortable discoveries that IT departments are making with digital transformation." am
