Intelligent sensors are a key component of automation and robotics. With sensor solutions for robot vision guidance, gripper monitoring and safe motion applications, SICK supplies a comprehensive portfolio for the fields of safe robotics, robot guidance and process control.

Solution for safe human-robot interaction

With the sBot Speed safe robotics system, SICK is presenting an integration-friendly solution for the performance-optimized safeguarding of robot applications. The complete system consists of a safety laser scanner and a Flexi-Soft safety controller. These ensure adaptive perception of the environment and thus enable unhindered and safe human intervention in the robot system. The closer the person steps into the robot's working area, the slower it moves - until it comes to a complete stop. If the person leaves the protective and warning field, the robot starts up again automatically - initially at a safely reduced speed until it can resume its original working speed. The sBot Speed safety system is also available for integration into the eco systems of robot manufacturers Universal Robots, KUKA, FANUC and Yaskawa.

Robot Guidance with high-resolution 3DToF camera

Even when mounting space is at a premium, the Visionary-T Mini 3DToF camera solves tasks in stationary and mobile robot applications in which distance images and environmental scenarios for robot guidance (also known as robotics guidance) need to be captured. With its 3DToF imager module, which achieves a resolution of 512 x 424 pixels and enables high image dynamics, the sensor continuously generates precise intensity and depth values of its surroundings. Even in low-light environments and at longer distances, the pixel density and illumination in the Visionary-T Mini ensure a high surface-independent depth of field and ambient light robustness. The 3DToF camera visualizes the live image of a work scene and the surroundings to the robot controller at a frame rate of up to 30 Hz. With the raw data output, software specialists such as OEMs and integrators can incorporate the measured values from the Visionary-T Mini into their own robotics solutions and applications. A wide range of industry-standard programming languages, software interfaces and libraries are supported.

Cost savings through efficient material supply

Data and information from smart sensors form the basis for robot-oriented solutions in the field of process control. The digital Filling Level Monitoring solution designed for packaging machines monitors the fill levels of cardboard boxes. In other applications, Filling Level Monitoring can also be used to record the fill levels of liquids or granulates. The information is processed independently of the machine manufacturer. Handling or process sequences become transparent - and can therefore be optimized. This ensures smooth production processes and helps to avoid machine downtimes.
