Evaluation of process performance
Analysis software shows degree of process maturity
Project production is teamwork. After all, those who produce with a batch size of one drive all value creation processes simultaneously. Only when engineering, production, purchasing and assembly work in parallel can the tight delivery deadlines be met as agreed. But do the different areas in the company really cooperate in exactly the way that the project manufacturer's process model envisages?
The continuous evaluation of process performance provides reliable information on this. For this purpose, the consulting and software company ams.Solution offers the new analysis software ams.process mining. One-off, order and variant manufacturers can use this tool to determine where there are processing deficits in the business process and to what extent the progress of customer projects is suffering as a result.
Access to the entire process chain
In particular, the software solution provides information on how quickly and to what quality the process participants process the order data associated with their respective work. Connected to the integrated order management system ams.erp, ams.process mining has access to the entire operational process chain. The spectrum that can be analyzed ranges from sales and development, production, scheduling, purchasing and materials management to assembly, shipping and service management. To illustrate possible process deficits, ams.process mining visualizes the real-time evaluations using process maps (see image). All analyses can also be displayed over time, creating a movie of current process performance.
In order to create clarity, the analysis software examines the actual data flows in the ERP: when was an order created, processed, changed, supplemented, forwarded back to the previous instance if necessary, resumed there and so on, and by whom. It also works out whether the data is complete and correct in accordance with the business process model and the QM manual.
Thanks to the connection to ams.erp, the analysis can be broken down to the level of individual orders. This reveals precisely where in the value chain the progress of orders is actually coming to a standstill. In addition, the data can also be selected according to business areas and product groups.
Continuous improvement process
ams.process mining is therefore aimed at companies that want to establish a continuous improvement process (CIP). On request, ams.solution's organizational consultants support the CIP with regular assessments. The analyses show the current level of process maturity in the company. The latter is decisive for the extent to which project manufacturers can meet the challenges of digitalization in order to ensure their future competitiveness.
