Making full use of the space
With the six-axis R-2000iC/220U, Fanuc is adding a version for suspended assembly to the R-2000 robot series. The R-2000iC/220U model is the successor to the iB version and has a payload capacity of 220 kg.
The robot is specially designed for suspended assembly, as indicated by the "U" in the type designation. It stands for "upside-down". Positioning the robot on the ceiling, or at least suspended, always makes sense when there is little space available on the floor. It is also suitable if the space should remain easily accessible or if the production process requires the robot to be mounted below a platform. Compared to the version for floor mounting, the manufacturer was able to dispense with the balancer for technical reasons. This saves dead weight, which has a positive effect on movement performance. More powerful servomotors should provide more performance and a further developed design should reduce weight. According to the manufacturer, the repeat accuracy of the R-2000iC/220U is ±0.05 mm. The robot has a horizontal reach of 2,518 mm and a vertical reach of 3,415 mm, whereby the robot can grip 370 mm above the level of its foot. sw
