Mara Hofacker,

Easily configure synchronized linear units

Item is expanding its intelligent item MotionDesigner and item MotionSoft software to include an additional area of application and will be demonstrating at the SPS how the new generation of software supports users in the design and commissioning of mechanically synchronized linear units. This means that viable automation solutions for pick-and-place tasks or multi-axis portals can be designed and commissioned quickly and easily in future.

When it comes to the trade fair's focus on Smart Production Solutions,Item Industrietechnik has a lot to offer. The focus will be on new functions and application options for the item MotionDesigner selection and design software. The intelligent program translates every transport task into an optimized overall solution. In addition to the previous applications with individual linear units and cantilever axes, synchronized linear units with toothed belt or chain drives can now also be configured. The software determines the appropriate combination of linear units and synchronous shaft, which enables several carriages to run in parallel. In addition, the user receives complete project documentation and CAD data at the touch of a button.

The commissioning software item MotionSoft automatically determines the optimum controller settings; according to the company, commissioning should be completed in just a few minutes. The Solingen-based company will be demonstrating the interaction of synchronized linear axes with the automated storage system at its stand. Visitors can carry out the entire process themselves - from selecting the right axis through to commissioning.

Enclosure of machines and processes

With the modules from the XMS series, Item offers a large portfolio for designing machine enclosures. © Item Industrial Technology

With the high-performance and visually appealing modules of the XMS series, Item offers a large portfolio for the optimal design of machine enclosures. Integrated cable ducts enable perfect separation of different process and supply levels. Using a cut-away XMS profile, Item makes the intelligent cabling visible directly on the trade fair exhibit. Other advantages of the machine enclosures include their modular design and compatibility with other components from the item MB Building Kit System.

Consistently implementing digital engineering

The engineering tool has also been revised to make design and project planning processes even more efficient. The web-based program includes the complete 3D data of numerous components from the item MB Building Kit System. Constructions can be created quickly using drag and drop and fitted with the appropriate connectors, cover caps or base elements. By integrating additional components and features, the company creates further design variants, simplifies usability and shortens the design time.
