Location Intelligence
Siemens presents software for localization system
Siemens has introduced the "Location Intelligence" software, which extends the Simatic RTLS (Real Time Locating System) localization platform with the digital twin of performance.
The web-based software analyses and visualizes movement data, processes events and can be accessed directly from local ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) or MES (Manufacturing Execution System) systems. The intelligence thus created on the basis of the position data is intended to provide the user with a comprehensive overview of material flows, order information or potential problem areas.
The transponder ID is linked to existing order data. Depending on the process step and order status, order information can be displayed paperlessly on the Simatic RTLS ePaper transponders. Location Intelligence also offers the user the option of tracking individual workpieces or the entire order in real time. For this purpose, the real-time positions of the linked transponders are displayed on the customer's digital map once the order ID has been entered.
The transparency gained in this way enables individual optimization of production and logistics processes. The key to this are so-called geofences (virtually defined areas). These can be created in the software using drag & drop in order to recognize when people enter and leave defined areas. The associated entry and exit events can be statistically evaluated, visualized or linked to additional actions.
In addition, the combination of location and business information ensures transparent processes: search processes are reduced to a minimum as the positions of all relevant objects are visualized on various end devices in real time. Bottlenecks or deviations in the production plan can be easily avoided with the help of geofences. At the same time, the real-time analyses reveal undiscovered optimization potential in the factory and support quick decisions. as
