Schmalz: Digital solutions for vacuum technology
With a new bin-picking solution, the use of the digital twin and a software tool for centralized access to IO-Link components, Schmalz offers a number of innovations for the smart factory.
Binpicking
Schmalz has developed a complete solution for the complex task of automated bin picking: it combines grippers specially optimized for bin picking with a 3D camera system, the appropriate control software and suitable accessories for robots. The vacuum is generated by the electric CobotPump ECBPi, for example. Schmalz has designed a new suction gripper for gripping workpieces directly at their corners and edges.
End-to-end product digitalization
Schmalz has already demonstrated how customers benefit from digital solutions and services with its engineering tool for the SLG lightweight gripper: Customers can configure their individual gripper themselves via a web platform. Another option is the digital twin - the virtual image of vacuum components. Users can use the intelligent, detailed CAD model to design their gripping system at an early stage of the design process. The twin provides all the necessary data and parameters - virtually and in real time.
Schmalz Connect Suite
The topic of increasing efficiency also plays an important role in another new development: the Schmalz Connect Suite. The software solution reads service data from components and analyzes it. The system is suitable for both new and old systems and can be operated on the hardware supplied and, in future, on the customer's own servers, edge platforms or from the cloud. With the Connect Suite, IO-Link components from different manufacturers can be commissioned, managed, monitored and improved more quickly - clearly arranged on a dashboard and conveniently from a tablet. as
