Salt joins Open Industry 4.0 Alliance
Salt Solutions has been a member of the Open Industry 4.0 Alliance since January 2020. The aim of this alliance is to create interoperable Industry 4.0 solutions that enable companies to achieve real added value through digital networking.
To this end, the members plan to define uniform framework conditions and standards and develop holistic, compatible solutions for the digital networking of factory, plant and warehouse areas. The alliance includes both users and manufacturers of information technology and solutions for factory automation, such as sensors and robotics. The aim is to bridge the gap between IT operators and manufacturers.
Salt is a specialist in end-to-end digital supply chain processes and brings experience from digitalization projects in industry and retail, including at Lufthansa, Daimler, BMW, Coca-Cola, Otto Group and Würth. In addition to consulting and project knowledge, Salt also contributes the business and IoT platform D4S (Data for Services), which the company developed in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Working Group for Supply Chain Services SCS. This platform offers a bandwidth that enables the networking of different companies and the exchange of data across operational technology (OT), information technology (IT) and business systems.
Maximilian Brandl, CEO of Salt and CEO since April 2020, says: "At the moment, we still have a situation like the Tower of Babel: there are many different systems that each speak a different language and cannot work together efficiently, if at all. To change this, leading companies in the Open Industry 4.0 Alliance are currently agreeing on binding standards. (...) We hope that joining the alliance will give us important impetus to lead our customers in the right direction with forward-looking projects at an early stage." as
