Visitors to the trade fair can find out about the new products and see the protection hardware, which fulfills a wide range of requirements. CodeMeter Embedded is a static library that provides the licensing and cryptography functions of CodeMeter via a specific API for embedded operating systems such as Android, Linux Embedded, QNX, VxWorks and Windows.

Depending on the architecture of the target system, manufacturers receive a specific library that allows them to protect their embedded software with robust encryption mechanisms and monetize their expertise with license-based models.

From release 2.40 of CodeMeter Embedded, manufacturers have two alternative ways of transferring licenses offline. In addition to the already available way via update files, CodeMeter Embedded now includes the basic functions of License Transfer. This makes it possible to transfer a license from a USB CmDongle, secure memory card or ASIC offline to an embedded device.

If the embedded device has already been recorded during production, it can be selected directly via the serial number. The update file is then transferred to a memory stick. This is connected to the embedded device and the license is imported there using the software; in the case of License Transfer, a selectable number of licenses are transferred to a CmDongle. The service technician's laptop with the CmDongle and the CodeMeter Runtime is connected to the embedded device in the field. The software then transfers the license from the CmDongle to the embedded device. The binding to the embedded device only takes place at this point and is therefore not known in CodeMeter License Central.

The path via the update file supports the full flexibility of CodeMeter. Licenses can be delivered, changed and returned. CodeMeter License Central keeps a precise record of licenses and automatisms such as restoring all licenses to an embedded device. The License Transfer path offers easy delivery of new licenses.

Wibu-Systems has not only expanded the possibilities of CodeMeter Embedded, but also the range of CmDongles. Manufacturers can currently choose between 18 different designs.
