Schaeffler Prolink CMS

Monitors complete production facilities

Industry 4.0 applications require complex networking and enable intelligent data analysis for greater efficiency. Schaeffler has fully integrated these requirements and possibilities into the new generation of its multi-channel condition monitoring system.

Prolink CMS is suitable for monitoring complete production plants in various industries, such as the paper and steel industry or machine tools. The modular design, flexible integration into existing customer systems and the high-quality signal quality and analysis provided by Prolink CMS mean easy handling and maximum efficiency in plant monitoring for the customer, the company promises. In addition to local use, Prolink CMS can also be used as a gateway for Industry 4.0 solutions.

Signal analysis without expert knowledge
Prolink CMS is easy to put into operation because the system does not require any knowledge in the field of signal acquisition and vibration analysis. Using the intuitive configuration wizard, the customer simply enters basic data on the components to be monitored via a web browser. Intelligent templates supplement all other component-specific information, for example for roller bearings, motors and gearboxes, fans and pumps.

During the self-learning test phase in operation, Prolink CMS automatically defines the alarm thresholds for up to 100 operating points for each machine, depending on the speed and load. As already known from the Schaeffler Smartcheck single-channel CMS, the Prolink multi-channel system provides the customer with high-quality, frequency-selective detection of bearing and gearbox damage, imbalances and much more.

The system consists of a main processor module for signal processing and various signal acquisition modules, for example for vibration measurement with up to 16 measuring channels. The modules are simply mounted on the top-hat rail in the control cabinet. An outstanding feature of the multi-channel CMS is its universal integration capability into the customer's infrastructure with the help of a plug-in fieldbus module. The system supports OPC/UA and Profinet as well as CC-Link IE. Further fieldbus protocols will follow.

The advantage for service providers and system integrators: thanks to Prolink CMS, they can serve several control worlds on the market with a single piece of hardware. OPC/UA or MQTT is used for cloud communication. This makes the multi-channel CMS ideal for Industry 4.0 applications.

Gateway to digital services
The customer can operate Prolink CMS locally and connect it to their plant control system via the fieldbus. In addition, Prolink CMS offers the option of transmitting the pre-processed sensor data to the Schaeffler service platform via MQTT for more specific analysis. This provides the customer with services such as the ConditionAnalyzer or a classification of load spectra. Prolink CMS serves as a universal gateway for connecting the sensor level with the control or management level right through to cloud applications. as
