Digitized Kanban process

Open sensor network

Steute's Wireless division has developed Nexy, a wireless network solution that transmits sensor data to the Internet of Things or other higher-level IT systems.

At Motek, Steute will be presenting an automatic material retrieval system (AMS) for KLT containers in production as a use case. The system automatically recognizes at which positions containers are available. As soon as the specified minimum stock level is reached, a replenishment order is automatically triggered. The fill level views can be visualized on any web-based end device. When staff remove a container or carton from the shelf, a wireless position sensor, which was specially developed for such applications and detects the container position, sends a signal to the ERP or warehouse management system, for example. The position sensor can be positioned anywhere on the shelf. This depends on how high the minimum stock level should be. This ensures full and up-to-date transparency of stock levels at all times. The Nexy software can be easily adapted to individual requirements. The user can configure whether one sensor is installed per shelf compartment or whether it is a multi-level Kanban system. In this way, Nexy digitalizes, networks and automates the Kanban process. as
